As restrictions lift and the world opens back up, Eni has bittersweet feelings as staying home has been a welcome change of pace, but she’s been missing her family get togethers. In December, cancelling the family’s 70 year tradition of cookie making, was a complete and total gut punch. A zoom hangout just wasn’t the same, but, with everyone in the family getting vaxxed, the constant state of worry has subsided. With the spring temps on the rise, an outdoor get together with the longlost fam is a reunion Eni’s looking forward to. And, the hugging. Oh, the hugging.

Having not seen any of the family in over a year, Eni takes in all of the little moments she was so desperately starved for. Hugging her Aunt Cindy. Toasting to her cousin Danny’s baby announcement. Helping her baby nieces fly their new kites. In the minty green dress, Auntie Eni runs around barefoot with the littles, hair moving freely in the wind. Brushing a strand away from her face while admiring the height of the kite, Eni looks over to the babies giggling wildly, chanting, “Auntie En! Higher! Higher!” Laughing to herself, E takes of mental picture of the kids. Of the brief blip of time. Because, a year ,without them, was simply too long.
