For over 70+ years’, the Moncheski crew has kept up with the holiday tradition of gathering together to make their beloved Chrusciki cookies. A Christmas ritual started by Winnie’s Polish grandparents, passed down from generation to generation. Her family treats the get-together as time to catch up, to welcome in newcomers to the squad, and, to chow down on some stellar Polish dishes that Winnie only has once a year (Has anyone ever tried kielbasa? Or, homemade pierogies? It’s a game changer). 70 years of annual Chrusciki makin’ togetherness, coming to a screeching halt in 2020. Thanks, Covid. Winnie’s had a pretty good grasp in dealing with the VERY different holiday season this year, except when it comes to this. She’s been missing her extended fam. Especially, her little nieces and nephews. Not getting to see them open presents or love on ‘em is slowly eating away at the polish gal. A Zoom get-together is on the books, but it’s not the same. No powdering cookies together. No rolling out the dough as Uncle Mark’s retells his stories for the thousandth time. The only saving grace is putting together a cute outfit for their virtual Moncheski shindig.

Are there perks to an online Polish hang? Sure. No one has to clean. Aunt Bev can’t whine about not getting enough cookies to take home. The littles can be muted when they start having meltdowns. Winnie’s just happy to see everyone’s face. Wanting to appear put together and a little festive, she pairs her bow sweater with a bright red lip, shimmery eye, and loose waves. As far as pants go? She’s still in leggings. Nobody’s seeing anything from the waist down.

I didn’t know I needed a vintage, pearled, glass-beaded sweater or a beaded flapper dress in my life, until I stumbled upon this shop. Firstly, Lauren went above and beyond to make sure my items arrived in a timely manner. 2nd, the items I bought are just stunning. She clearly has an eye for quality and detail—while my dress was listed as having an imperfection or two, I cannot find nary a thing wrong with it :) I bought it to have something unique and amazing to wear on my 40th birthday in March—pandemic or not, I’m going to look incredible! And I love her stories that she comes up with: for me they were a special selling point. I still have to take photos in my awesome *new* pieces but when I do, I will update this review with them.
