After the holidays are over and done with, there's not really anything "magical" about winter. Yes, there's beauty in the snowflake covered ground and cozying up to a roaring fire, hot cocoa in hand, after a few hours of making snow angels outside, but, for the most part, winter is a big suck for those of us who don't enjoy being cold (shoutout to those of you wearing sweats in 70 degree weather. #badcirculation). When the whimsical colored lights and festive decorations are packed away until the following December, the "magic" vanishes along with it. We're left with seemingly infinite sunless days of gloom and aching shoulders from tensing our bodies when trying to stay warm in freezing temps. If you're anything like us, the post-holiday season brings on full hibernation mode- Marie Kondo-ing your place, asking yourself if your senior high school sweats still bring you joy (answer: they don't) and rewatching the newest season of YOU because Penn Badgley is both hot (and, crazy). All the while, you say no to every friend's invitation to go out because the mere thought of facing the elements makes you shudder. After many threats of canceling their friendship with you, you opt to host a night in at your place. That way, you don't have to go anywhere, can get boozy and pass out in your own bed, and still show off your new Marie Kondo organizing skills (OMG, the pantry looks soo good, you guys). Despite the fact that you're secretly hoping/wishing that everyone cancels, you force yourself out of the questionable coffee-stained sweatpants you've been wearing all winter (have they been washed in the past month and a half? Answer: we don't know) and into something halfway presentable. If no one shows up, at least you'll have made an effort. Sort of.
